The Minor Pentatonic Scale on Guitar
The minor pentatonic scale is one of the most important scales to learn on guitar. It’s simple, powerful and used in many styles including blues, rock, funk, reggae, pop and metal. What Is the Minor Pentatonic Scale?
The minor pentatonic scale is a five-note scale with a strong and expressive sound. Because it removes the more dissonant notes found in the full minor scale, it works especially well over many chords and progressions.
Its formula is:
1 – ♭3 – 4 – 5 – ♭7

For example, the A minor pentatonic scale contains the notes:
A – C – D – E – G – A
