🎸 About Clare

Hi, I’m Clare. I picked up the guitar at 11 after watching my dad play. My mum and dad taught me my first chords, and from there I taught myself- grabbing tips from friends and family, and soaking up inspiration from players like John Lennon, Bob Marley, Django Reinhardt, Mark Knopfler, Joan Armatrading and David Gilmour.

I’ve always loved writing and recording music. I started out messing around on my dad’s old 4-track, and that eventually led to forming a reggae-indie duo, The Moot, with my partner in 2005. We spent nearly two decades performing over a thousand shows across the UK- gigging, busking, writing, recording and entertaining thousands of people. The Moot are still writing and recording songs. These days I play gigs solo with my trusty PRS electric guitar.

In 2008 I uploaded a few songs to YouTube, and when someone asked me to teach a reggae strumming technique… well, that’s where it all began. I’ve been posting reggae guitar lessons (and more) ever since, and in 2024 I launched my Patreon to build a dedicated library of guitar lessons to help you grow as a player.

Music has been part of me for as long as I can remember—from singing my own songs at 6 years old to now, still loving every minute with a guitar in my hands. I hope I can pass on some of what I’ve learned and help you on your guitar journey.

Thanks for being here with me. Let’s jam! 🎸
